YWCA Darwin provides a range of programs in Darwin and Palmerston. These include supported accommodation, youth crisis accommodation, domestic and family violence crisis accommodation and support, medical accommodation, parenting support, support for women in the criminal justice system, youth diversion and two social enterprises. There are currently 60+ employees located over 7 sites with an overall budget in excess of $6m.

Case Manager – Domestic Family Violence Centre (Fixed-term until 30 June 2018)

A Case Manager for the Domestic Family Violence Centre provides client focused case management to people who have experienced domestic or family violence. They will facilitate opportunities for people to achieve personal and housing independence.

Housekeeper/Accommodation Worker – Barbara James House (Casual)

An Accommodation Worker at Barbara James House provides non-medical, accommodation assistance to guests accessing cancer (or other hospital) treatment from rural and remote areas. This role is also responsible for providing housekeeping support, including regularly maintaining individual rooms and common areas of the property and providing a linen service.

The successful applicant must be available to assist at short notice and be able to cover variety of tasks in the housekeeping, office, laundry and kitchen departments. You will be working in a supportive and friendly work environment with the possibility of additional hours for the right person.

This is a casual shift work position working on a roster including days, nights, weekends and public holidays.

Youth Diversion Program – Case Manager (Fixed term until 30 June 2018)

A Case Manager for the Youth Diversion Program provides client focussed youth development activities which support young people who have been identified as being at risk. The aim of the program is to build on the young person’s strengths and skills for active participation and community connection. Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Promote high quality case management and apply strength based case management processes appropriate to the unique case management requirements of clients with highly complex needs.
  • Assist clients to identify their needs and support and encourage them to exercise their right and personal preferences without compromising their safety or that of others.
  • Identify the relationship between factors which influence young people’s offending behaviour and evidence of effective practice in working with young offenders.
  • Apply an in-depth knowledge of restorative justice principles and practices to all case work activities and support clients through restorative justice processes, including family and victim offender conferences.

Housing Support Program – Case Manager (Fixed term until 30 June 2018)

YWCA Darwin’s Housing Support Program responds to issues of youth and women’s homelessness and provides accommodation for young people and older single women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.  The Housing Support Program provides an opportunity for a continuum of housing services for young people and older single women, providing case management to respond to homelessness through providing crisis accommodation and working with young people and older single women to move into, or retain, independent accommodation outside of the public housing system. The Housing Support program has the ability to provide a pathway from crisis to independent accommodation for young people and older single women. This will include support and case management for young people with children, and young people and older women exiting care and custodial arrangements.
