Dear YWCA Darwin Members

YWCA Darwin appreciates the support of its members and I am writing to remind you that your financial membership of YWCA Darwin is now due for renewal. I have attached a membership renewal form that can completed electronically, or printed and completed. YWCA Darwin has achieved a lot in the recent financial year with its dedicated staff and volunteers. Including:

  • Upgrading our website
  • Increased funding and service delivery
  • Corporate Services office move
  • Increased advocacy for women’s rights
  • Well attended events, particularly our TINAtalks sessions
  • Positive partnerships with other organisations
  • Implementing a new case management system to further improve our programs
  • Upgrading our IT system to support our staff to deliver programs and services
  • Increased staff training opportunities
  • Increase in Food for Futures functions
  • Supporting our homeless population through the wet weather respite program with Larrakia Nation
  • Engaging with the National Merger Project
  • Increased social media presence

We are looking forward to updating you more through our Annual Report, our website and our Annual General Meeting to be held at 6pm on 24 October at Barbara James House.

Further information on the National Merger Project

The process to move towards a national YWCA has achieved a significant milestone with all exploratory documents now finalised.

  • The business case has been completed and presents a positive future for a national entity.
  • The due diligence process has concluded and does not present any roadblocks to merger.
  • The proposed new Constitution has been finalised and is ready to go.

The National Merger website has more information on the merger project.

The documents present a compelling proposition, providing great new opportunities for our people, our members and women in Australia.

Member Associations, except Canberra, have confirmed their commitment to continuing to move forward to achieve a national merger.

All parties to the national merger are targeting a merger this calendar year, with a member vote to take place in the later part of the year to provide detailed information and seek approval and endorsement from YWCA Darwin members.

YWCA Darwin is committed to keeping members engaged in the process and would love to hear from you with any thoughts. For more information, please email merger@ywcaofdarwin.org.au or contact the President Kate Presswell directly (president@ywcaofdarwin.org.au) or the Chief Executive Officer Jessica Watkinson (jessica.watkinson@ywcaofdarwin.org.au).

Thank you again for being a member of YWCA Darwin, we appreciate your ongoing support and involvement. If you would like further information regarding any of our programs and services, and how you can be involved, please contact us.
